- What does this service provide?
The Proposal Project Manager can assist the faculty PI in the development of complex proposals for external funding by:
- Creating project plans, timelines, and tracking progress
- Coordinating project team communications
- Hosting a team kick-off meeting
- Facilitating team meetings
- Designating proposal tasks
- Reviewing proposal documents to confirm adherence to sponsor requirements
- Serving as a project team liaison to solicit guidance from other units on campus
- Coordinating with internal and external reviewers to obtain written and verbal feedback on proposal drafts
- Developing funding opportunity-specific templates and reference guides
The Proposal Project Manager DOES NOT do any of the following:
- Manage individual calendars or provide general administrative support
- Write and edit proposals
- Rewrite documents or proposal content
- Provide subject matter expertise
- Submit proposals to the sponsor
- Develop budgets
- Communicate with sponsoring organizations
- Assist in the preparation of proposals for internal competitions
- Create graphics
- Provide post-award management of the grant
- Submit required updates to sponsors
- Who can use this service?
Only Pitt faculty members may submit a request for proposal project management assistance.
- How do I submit a proposal project management request?
Complete the proposal project management request form and attach a PDF of the funding solicitation.
Recommended: Submit request with required documents at least 3 months before the proposal application deadline*
*Proposal project management requests made less than three months before the proposal application deadline may be accepted, depending on the volume of requests and the availability of the Proposal Project Manager. If you are submitting a request with a proposal application deadline that is less than 3 months away, please contact the Proposal Project Manager at conciergeppm@pitt.edu to verify service availability.
